They discuss a study written by NIKTT collaborators that found while eight per cent of non-Indigenous dialysis patients were waitlisted, just two per cent of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients were.

CARI Guidelines
These guidelines, Recommendations for culturally safe and clinical kidney care for First Nations Australians, were developed by Caring for Australians and New Zealanders with Kidney Impairment (CARI) and provides specific guidelines that aim to improve the equity of health systems for the management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The development of the Recommendations included consultation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities (via Yarning Kidneys and Catching Some Air), a systematic review of the literature using medical literature databases and the Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet, oversight by a working group with expertise in clinical nephrology, nursing, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, lived experience of CKD, health economics and cultural safety, and peer review by individual experts and peak bodies in kidney health for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
